With the 1994 release of “Still Caught Up” through the small label Steppin’ Bigga Records, Saukrates launched his career when he earned a nomination for Best Rap Recording at the 1996 Juno Awards. He was nominated again for the same Juno award in 2000 for “Money or Love.”
In 2006 he performed “Say It Right” at the 2006 American Music Awards and “Promiscuous” with Nelly Furtado at the 94th Grey Cup after which he toured extensively through Europe as her supporting act on her Get Loose Tour.
Saukrates has previously released two albums in North America but continues to collaborate with artists on various projects such as producing Method Man and Redman’s single “A-Yo” from their Billboard Top 10 album Blackout! 2.
In 2011 he wrote and performed the song “Say I” for the North American Nike campaign entitled “24/7” featuring NHL star P.K. Subban, which accounted for more than a quarter of the campaign’s viewership (+700,000 YouTube views as of February 9th, 2012).
Recently, Saukrates has collaborated with k-os on the hit “On The Run,” which is a featured track on his new album Season One, which also features Tasha the Amazon, OB Obrien and Redman, with its first single, “Say I,” gaining major radio play.
